BET networks in partnership with Beverly Bond, the Founder and CEO of Black Girls Rock!, honored living legend Patti, Queen Latifah, Mara Brock Akil, Venus Williams, Ameena Matthews, Misty Copeland and children’s rights activist Marian Wright Edlemanat the taping of theirAnnual BGR event held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, October 26, 2013.

 

The two hour star studied event was, once again, hosted by the fabulous dynamic duo Tracee Ellis Ross & Regina King who both brought the style, charisma and the funny to the stage.  The event was a spectacular celebration of phenominal black women in entertainment, community outreach, activism, corporate and sports.  The event lived up to every bit of it’s mission to display and honor black women who exemplify strength and is making strides in their perspective arenas.  This year’shonorees continue to show us all how to be positive role models and still make it happen in the industry without losing yourself respect & dignity and at the same time still be successful.  These women live up to the Black Girl’s Rock! missionand are positive role models for all young black females to look up to for inspitration.
